SEVEN SUMMER DATE IDEAS UNDER $20 + CASUAL DATE OUTFIT

Jul 10, 2017

The past few days have been gorgeous outside of Philadelphia and Chris and I have been getting out of the house as much as possible. It's just too beautiful to stay indoors. We love heading out on dates, but sometimes going on dates every week can really hit the budget. I've come up with seven date ideas that are not only fun, but under $20 each. What a steal!

ONE // Visit a "Cut Your Own" Flower Garden

Sunday afternoon Chris and I decided to head to Freed's Produce Stand for a quick summer afternoon date. Plus, it made for the perfect photoshoot location! The fields were filled with so many different types of flowers. We ended up chatting with the owners and then headed on our way to hunt down the prettiest of flowers. For only $12, you cut your own flowers and fill up a pretty good sized bucket full of your favorite blooms. There was also tons of produce that would be perfect to grab for dinner.

TWO //  Mini Golf

Who doesn't love mini golf?! There are Mini Golf locations everywhere, and it's inexpensive way to get out of the house and spend some quality time together. A lot of Mini Golf locations (near me at least) have an ice cream shop. Play some holes and grab some ice cream when you're done and you've got a date for under $20!

THREE // See a Movie in the Morning

Movies are always a few bucks cheaper in the mornings versus at night, and if you're lucky enough to be off work on a weekday, head to the movies! Chris and I love kids movies, and I totally will be begging him to see Despicable Me 3 and Cars 3 super duper soon!

FOUR // Brunch Date

Going to brunch always makes me feel extra classy, but let's be real. It just means we've slept in too late to call it breakfast, and now it's officially acceptable to have mimosas. We have a super cute mom and pop breakfast place a couple blocks away, and we can get brunch for the two of us for under $20. Check your local breakfast places, head downtown, and call it a date!

FIVE // Take a Walk in a Local National or State Park

I live about 20 minutes from the Valley Forge National Park, and it is so gorgeous. It's a good way to get out of the house, learn a little about where you live, take some pretty pictures, and spend time together. Whenever we go, we usually head over after Chris gets off of work, and it's the perfect temperature in the Summertime. The sun isn't as hot, and it makes for stunning golden hour photoshoots. This one's completely free!

SIX // Grab a Board Game/Video Game & Bring on the Competition

Being competitive is sort of ingrained into my DNA and in my husbands, too. It makes for some hilarious game endings, whether we are playing Battleship or Mario on the Nintendo, it's all a blast. If you already have a game you love, then perfect! If not, you can head to your local Target or Walmart and pick up a board game for under $20! Chris and I have been loving the Retro versions from Target like this one.

SEVEN // IKEA + Lunch

Anyone loathe the process of building IKEA furniture with your spouse or significant other...honestly anyone for that matter, but love walking through the showroom!? That would be me! It's completely free to walk through the showroom and pretend you're redoing your house. Chris and I will do this a lot just to get a feel for how we want to redecorate something or hopefully buy and renovate a home next Spring. Plus, at the end of the showroom you will find the glorious cafeteria with the best food selection. There's truly something for everyone...and don't forget the cinnamon rolls and frozen yogurt at the very end! You can easily grab a meal or dessert, or both for under $20!

  17. I've never heard of a cut your own flower garden! I'm not sure if they have things like that where I live, but then again I haven't been looking for them - that changes now! Just the act of walking around a flower garden and seeing all those beautiful colours would be a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

My partner and I also love mini golf! We've been to the four courses in the closest towns to us, but I'm hoping to venture out and try to play at as many different ones as we can! I think that'd be really fun.
