10 SELF-CARE IDEAS

Aug 7, 2017

Thanks to Rodan + Fields for sponsoring this post. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Self-Care is so important. Whether you take ten minutes or you make a day out of it, you need to make time for yourself.  Today I'm sharing some fun self-care ideas for you to try at home, plus details on some of my new favorite skincare products.

One // Paint your nails

I love taking 30 minutes to paint my nails. Grab your favorite color, give yourself a little pampering, and bring the nail salon to your own home. I love getting discounted Essie polish and nail supplies at Marshalls. This gives ya an excuse to buy a few new polish shades, too!

Two // Watch your favorite tv show

I've been watching Rules of Engagement on Netflix for the past month, and I am almost finished with all seven seasons. Watching a little tv is the perfect way to check out and relax. What are some of your favorite shows? Leave your favorites in the comments so I have something to watch next!

Three // Light a candle and take a hot bath or shower

There's nothing quite like a relaxing hot shower. I haven't been able to take a bath in years since my apartment doesn't have one, but I still enjoy taking a hot shower by candlelight. It's so soothing.

Four // Give yourself a mini facial

Once you've taken a nice hot shower or bath, get your skincare routine going. I have been loving a few products from Rodan + Fields. I am a sucker for good skincare, especially products that give real results.

I was lucky enough to try four products for a complete skincare routine. I started my routine with the Enhancements Micro-Dermabrasion Paste to enhance cell turnover and improve tone & texture. Next, I used the Redefine Night Renewing Serum to improve texture, firmness, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The next product might just be my favorite. It's the Redefine Lip Renewing Serum. I have annoyingly dry lips, and this serum is rich with peptides and Vitamin E to help your lips maintain its natural moisture, improve your lip texture, and reduce the appearance of lip wrinkles. This is the perfect product as we head into colder weather in the next few months. Lastly, I followed everything with the Active Hydration Serum. It raises your skin's hydration level by 200% for softer, more radiant, and younger-looking skin.

Five // Turn off your phone & stay away from social media for an evening

Sometimes social media is the reason for our stresses. Take a break from skimming Facebook over and over and spend time alone, and I mean truly alone. It will not only recharge you, but you will notice just how addicted you are to social media. It's a huge eye opener and you will feel so much more relaxed at the end of the evening.

Six // Take a nap

Naps are life. I love taking a quick catnap, but usually they turn into four-hour slumbers, and that's okay! Nap away and sleep your troubles away!

Seven // Snuggle your fur baby

Y'all know that my cat is my first born. There's nothing better than snuggling with your fur baby after a bad day or just because. A cat's purr is scientifically proven to help reduce stress and signs of depression & anxiety, so if you're feeling a little off, give them a snuggle.

Eight // Listen to your favorite songs

Music has a way of speaking to your heart when words aren't enough. Whether you're listening to your fav tunes blasted through headphones or in your car on a mini drive, a short music session works wonders.

Nine // Get dressed up and head to the mall

Retail therapy is my jam. Sometimes just being out of the house is good for the soul. You can walk around the mall and window shop, or set a shopping budget and buy yourself a new outfit for a little pick-me-up. Some of my fashion & beauty favorites are listed in my Shop tab.

Ten // Clean your home to destress

If you're anything like me, 30 minutes of hardcore cleaning can go a long way. Not only in making your home perfectly clean again, but in releasing stress and frustration. Scrub the stress away!

What are some things you do to embrace a little self care? I would love to hear your ideas!

Pin me for later!

Stay Classy.
xx,
Kristen

  1. These are such great ideas! I'm re-watching Rules of Engagement right now. It's exaggerated relatableness and therefore quite funny. I always take a little extra care time when my husband is away for work - I like to put a blanket on the couch and let the dogs up or snuggle with me in bed. Cleaning doesn't really de-stress me, but having a cluttered house makes me anxious, so I like to clean for that. This is a great list!

  8. I totally agree that you must make time for yourself. No one will take better care of you than yourself.

On the other hand, I take so much (sometimes unnecessary) care of my nails. They are super fragile and I want them to look decent. My Mum always tells me to make sure my nails look nice and neat. Having nice nails doesn't mean having them painted all the time. Neat and clean nails say a lot about a woman.

  27. I love this list! Sometimes I forget that simply slowing down and allowing myself to do little things like watch a TV show or take a bath is actually a form of self care. I usually feel guilty for doing those things, but we all need a break and a way to unwind. I've been ending my nights by watching a few episodes of a funny TV show, and I always end up going to bed in a better mood!
