This past weekend, I took a mini vacay with my hubby and in-laws. It was so nice just to get away for a few days, disconnect from the majority of social media, and just be present with family. I know that the Summertime is coming to an end, but just in case you are headed out for one last beach trip before beach season is officially over, I'm sharing a few beach trip essentials that you (and I) commonly forget!
One // Bug Spray
There is nothing worse than being at the beach and being bit by flies because of a land breeze. Think ahead and bring some bug spray to drive them away just in case the beach is not in your favor that day.
Two // Aloe
My poor husband is super fair skinned and we forgot to bring aloe with us. We were seriously only on the beach for less than two hours with sunscreen and he got brunt. That night, he really needed aloe, so it was an adventure finding a store nearby that had aloe that was actually going to work. Don't forget your aloe, people.
Three // Hair Ties
If you have long hair like I do, it whipping you in the face while you're trying to relax is no bueno. If it's super windy, make sure you have a hair tie (or two) stashed in your beach bag. Throw your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun and enjoy the beach.
Four // Sweater or Sweatshirt
It may be ninety and sunny on the beach during the day, but remember, it's cold in almost every restaurant you will go into, plus it's pretty chilly at night if you choose to walk the beach or the boardwalk.
Five // Tennis Shoes
Speaking of the boardwalk, there are so many fun activities to do on the boardwalk, so make sure you're comfortable. This past weekend, we rented a huge Surrey for us all to take a ride down the boardwalk. Boy, am I glad to have had some tennis shoes for that adventure. Having them handy was also nice when we were walking to and from the beach (we had to walk about 1/2 mile) and for walking the boardwalk at night.
Have you ever forgotten any of these essentials when heading to the beach?! Now you'll be extra prepared on your next beach trip.
Stay Classy.
xx,
Kristen
Some great things here especially the aloe and hair ties I have forgotten those items. Beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! : ) Hair ties are always stock piled in my beach bag now, for sure!
DeleteThis is a great list. I never have enough hair ties or clips at the beach. I also leave my hat a lot. I've never thought about taking aloe to the beach though. I always have it back at the house/condo.
ReplyDeleteI usually keep it at the hotel, too! : ) It's just nice to bring on vacation--so wish I had it a few weeks ago. haha! Hair ties are the best thing ever at the beach though.
DeleteI always bring a sweater with me and people always look at me like I'm crazy! But once night rolls around and it gets really chilly they understand.
ReplyDeleteYEP! Exactly! haha Everyone kept laughing at me when I pulled it out of my suitcase--and it got SUPER cold that night, too and I was the only one prepared.
DeleteUgh I always hate when I forget the hair ties!!! And so true about the hoodie, I'm always cold so I feel like I bring one everywhere even when it is hot out lol
ReplyDeleteI always keep them in a little pocket in my beach bag so I never forget! :)
DeleteI ALWAYS forget bug spray! Great list, and I love these photos!
ReplyDeleteI never thought to bring it to the beach until my MIL had it at our past family vacays! Thanks Natalie! :)
DeleteOh this is so helpful! We are headed to the beach next month with our baby and I am confident we will forget somethings!
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad I wrote this post when I did! :)
DeleteI'm hoping to squeeze in one more beach trip before the end of the year, normally on the Gulf Coast it stays pretty comfortable through October, so I'll definitely remember your list when I'm packing :)

Ooo so jealous! It's already in the 60's in PA so no more beach for me!
DeleteOkay, first of all, you look so gorgeous in these photos, girl! Also, that mani is on point.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've gotten that out of the way, haha...
I'm totally guilty of forgetting these things on a vacay, too - especially the bug spray! And you never think you're going to need a sweatshirt if you're heading to the beach, but I never regret bringing one with me, just in case. There's just something about being snuggled up all nice and cozy in your favorite sweatshirt while walking on the beach at night. It's perfect. :) Pinning this for later!

Aw! Thank you so, so much Bria! You are so sweet! <3 I love wearing sweatshirts on the beach and pairing them with shorts. It's the perfect beach outfit.
DeleteThese pictures are SO gorgeous. Especially the one with the sunset. Something I always forget to take is a water bottle and then I get so dehydrated with all the salt water that I inevitably swallow.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Megan! <3 Ah yes, water bottles! Thank goodness there was a grocery store near the beach house we stayed at this year--my hubby and I forgot those too! haha!
DeleteGreat list! Hair ties are so key! It definitely becomes an annoying trip without them. Love the sunnies too!
ReplyDeleteYes, for sure! Especially if the beach is windy! Thanks : )
DeleteWe took a beach trip and forgot aloe vera. My hubbs got sunburn , I went to walmart and bought an aloe plant, cut it up, used it, and we still have the plant!
ReplyDeleteOh that's such a good idea! I LOVE aloe plants. I usually get a leaf at the grocery store for beauty routines, but always forget that I can just use it directly for sunburns, too instead of the gel! haha!
DeleteI am notorious for forgetting the baby powder. It terrible trying to eat or relax with sand stuck to ya....
ReplyDeleteOo! Baby powder is a good one! I don't think I've ever brought it to the beach before---I definitely need to start, though!
