HOW TO PRESERVE YOUR WEDDING BOUQUET FOREVER

Oct 20, 2017

I can't believe that on Sunday, Chris and I will have been married for six months! It's crazy how fast time flies. How is this year almost over?! It's definitely been a wild and super fun ride, and I'm so grateful that I got to do life with my hubby by my side.

Every so often, I go back and look at our wedding video and pictures and just reflect on what a dream our wedding day was. There were so many memories that I hold in my heart, and I'm thankful for the tangible memories that I have as well. My dress, my shoes, our rings, our vow books, and my bouquet are items that I will cherish forever and ever.

Of course we wear our rings daily as reminder of our never-ending love, but I wanted a way to put some of the others, including my bouquet on display. I have my dress currently in our spare bedroom on a dress form so that it's not shoved in a box to be forgotten. My end goal for it is to be showcased in a huge glass shadow box that will be mounted to the back wall of our future walk-in-closet. (Currently dreaming) But, until that happens, the dress form will do just fine. My shoes and our vow books are on display on various shelves in our home, so that when we see them we are reminded of our day.

As for my bouquet, originally, it had been in an oversized vase awaiting my ultimate plan for it. The week after our wedding, I had wanted to purchase silica to submerge it in to preserve the luminosity of the petals, but things got a little crazy and unfortunately that never happened. The petals started to fall off and I didn't want to lose my entire bouquet, so I had to think fast. Of course I turned to Pinterest, and that's where I saw this holder featured in a home decor post. I just knew I had to have it! (It's currently sold out because it's so popular, but save this post or the link and check back after a week or so. I had to wait a few weeks when I ordered mine for it to be back in stock!)

I'm seriously so obsessed with the way it turned out. This particular holder has two sections. The bottom section has a mirrored base and this is where I put the lose petals that had fallen from my bouquet. I placed Christopher's boutonniere on top of them. In the top section, of course is my bouquet. I did have to trim a few inches off of the bottom in order for it to fit, but I was okay with that. I kept my Grandmother's pin on it as well. It was my something old, and she wanted me to keep it after my wedding day.

Now, every morning when I wake up, I look up and see my bouquet on my dresser and I smile thinking about our day. It's the perfect way to start any day. I had to open my holder to take some of these pictures, and my flowers still smell just as they did on my wedding day. I teared up just a bit, because I had no idea that after six months I would even be able to smell their fragrance anymore. I'm hoping that since they are in an enclosed container they will hold their fragrance for many years to come.

Pin Me For Later!

If you've gotten married recently or even if it was years ago and you still have your bouquet, I highly recommend purchasing a holder to put your bouquet on display. Whether you purchase the one in this post or another, you won't regret it. I'm so pleased with how it looks and I'm thankful I get to cherish it for the many, many years to come.
