A MORNING ROUTINE FOR A HEALTHIER YOU

At the beginning of every year, we are always looking for new ways to improve our health and our well-being. Today, I'm sharing a morning routine that will lead to a healthier you. I've also teamed up with Silk and their Progress is Perfection campaign. Health is hard, but feeling healthier doesn't have to be! I love that Silk is working hard to fight the belief that "extreme" is the only path to being healthier, small victories are still victories. I want to celebrate these small victories and also give you a few tips that will lead you to these victories!

A Morning Routine for a Healthier You //

One // Cleanse your face

Cleansing your face should be one of the first things you do in the morning. It keeps your skin healthy and you clean off all oils and dirt your skin produced overnight. It also gives you a clean base if you're going to put on makeup!

Two // Plan your daily meals

If I don't plan out what I'm going to eat, honestly, I forget to eat! Once I started planning ahead and thinking about what I was going to eat throughout the day for my main meals and snacks, I was eating properly and I was choosing healthier options, too!

Three // Drink a protein filled smoothie


Breakfast is such an important meal of the day. If you're not big on eating a big breakfast early in the morning, try drinking a protein filled smoothie. I love making a vanilla or chocolate peanut butter smoothie. Today, I'm going to share my recipe for a Vanilla Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie using Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almondmilk from Walmart!


Vanilla Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie //

Ingredients //

1 banana
1 cup of Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almondmilk
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (vegetable based)
5 ice cubes

I've been loving Silk Almondmilk, because there are so many benefits. Not only does it taste delicious, it's made with natural ingredients, is dairy-free and lactose-free, and it has 50% more calcium than milk. It's also low calorie, so that you can feel good knowing that you are getting purposeful nutrition with an excellent source of antioxidants. A simple way to to feel healthier this new year is to consume less dairy and eat more plants. It's a small way to transition to a plant based diet (like me!) or just make better-for-you decisions.

How to Make //



One // Add all ingredients into your blender in the following order: 1 cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Almondmilk, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (vegetable based), 1 banana, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, and lastly 5 ice cubes. I find that this order keeps the blender from getting stuck & blends everything together better!



Two // Blend all ingredients together

*Pro Tip: If your smoothie is too runny, add a few more ice cubes in and re-blend to thicken it up a bit!

Three // Pour & Enjoy!

Four // Read something inspirational

Whenever I need a good pick-me-up for the day, I'll read a chapter of a good book or an inspiring blog post. It helps me start off my day feeling inspired and ready for anything the day brings!

Five // Stretch or exercise

I don't have the will power to get up super early in the morning and exercise (props to ya if you do!), but I do love doing a few stretches in the morning to wake myself up. It's the perfect way to help energize yourself and prepare for the day ahead. It can also help relieve any tension or stress so you can start your day out right!
