HOW TO WEAR A CARDIGAN IN THE SUMMERTIME

Is it fall yet? I don't know about you, but about a month into summertime, I am more than ready for crisp fall weather. I look forward to September skies and September weather more than anything each year. Don't get me wrong, I love the warm weather, but the past few weeks it's been HOT. I'm talkin' 90*+ hot, and I'm #overit.

I also mostly blame the Nordstrom Anni Sale, because it's put all of the new cute fall clothes on my radar again. I'm ready for booties, cardis, sweaters, and layers. I feel like I dress so much cuter in the fall because I'm not sweating to death in the summertime heat.

Last week, when the Nordstrom sale started for cardmembers, I stalked everyone's stories to see what would be super popular again this year! Everyone's stories & blog posts are something I look forward to seeing because it helps me find my favorite pieces without having to do any work. haha!!

I'm planning to hopefully grab a few key fall basics online tomorrow when public access starts, but I was also able to grab a new cardigan from LOFT since I don't have a Nordstrom Card to shop early access. There are a few things from Nordstrom that I have my eye on, but they're currently out of stock, so I'm praying for a re-stock at some point during public access. Ya girl needs her Brixton hat!

Anywhoo, today I'm sharing how to wear a cardigan in the summertime. I am always cold at work. The air is always cranked, so a cardigan or denim jacket is incorporated somehow into my jacket each and every day. In fact, the reason I bought this new cardigan is that I forgot my jacket, and I was so cold, I had to get something.

When I was thinking about a cardi, at this point, we're so late into summer that getting something super thin wasn't what I was looking for. During the warmer months, brands will come out with light-weight dusters or sheer cardigans, but I wanted something just a little heavier. That's when I came across Lou & Grey's Linen Cotton Cardigan. It is the perfect mix of fabrics to create the perfect summer to fall transition cardi.

I wanted to keep my outfit super casual, so I paired it with a Linen V-Neck Tee to also keep the layers light. With this linen tee, you will have to wear a cami underneath because it is super thin, but I just love the look of it! In both the cardi and tee, I got an XS, but I could have gotten an XXS in the cardigan because it is very oversized. I didn't mind the oversized fit, so that's why I decided to go with the XS. I'm also only 5'2", so I cuffed the sleeves a bit--it's my daily struggle, but it's fine. I actually like the cuffed look! It shows off my jewelry stack a little better.

For my denim, I went with my classic distressed boyfriend denim. I have yet to find another pair that I love on me, but I'll never be able to get this pair again since they're from BEBE right before their stores closed, so I will wear them until I can't fit into them. I did link a few similar styles below for you in case you were on the hunt. I want to try the ones from Old Navy if my size gets restocked!

So, when you are layering in the summertime, keep each layer light, and that way you won't melt!
P.S. My bag is from Marshalls. I've been loving the backpack style handbags--they're so cute and functional!!

Are you ready for cooler weather and layers yet?!
