FALL MAMA STYLE INSPO + PEP TALK

Every once in a while, I feel something on my heart that I can't shake, and this is one of those times. If you're a mama, there's something you need to know: You don't have to sacrifice your personal style just because you're a mom, and you do not need to be ashamed of your body.

I remember right after Bentley was born, I struggled to figure out how to dress my new mom bod, and now, I still struggle some days, but everyone struggles. You just grew a freakin' human, of course, your body isn't going to look like it did before you were pregnant, and that's okay. Your life is changing, your style can change, your body changed, and yes, that's all okay, too.

I'm 22 months postpartum, and I just read an article that said your body isn't fully recovered until 24 months postpartum. Let that sink in--maybe read it again. Yes, 24 months! So, I hope you're reading this knowing there is absolutely no pressure to "bounce back" to anything because that narrative is honestly the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

There have been so many times I've sent a text to a friend because I'm going to be late hanging out since nothing in my closet is fitting right, or it takes me an hour to find something to wear that I feel pretty in. It's a constant battle of loving a new body that even almost two years later, I still don't recognize.

Ever since I started working from home in June, I've made it a point to work on my mental health and fully heal from postpartum traumas. Over these past few months, I've started to slowly heal and I feel happier, but that doesn't mean I don't struggle sometimes.

Here are a few things that have helped me along the way:

One // Talk it out with someone you trust

Two // Buy a few staples that make you look and feel good

Three // Practice positive self talk

Motherhood is hard enough--especially with all the sacrifices we have to make daily. Take your style back, and learn to love yourself (and your body!) again. It's a journey, but it's a journey worth taking.
