BRIDAL MAKEUP INSPIRATION

A special thanks to Beauty Pie for sponsoring this post.

Have you ever looked back on your wedding photos and wished you could relive that day? I feel like our wedding day was over in the blink of an eye and I poured everything into that day. I planned our wedding in seven weeks (yes, I know I'm crazy!) and I diy'd everything from the decor, cake, and of course my makeup and hair. We were on a super tight budget, but I'm still obsessed with how everything came together.

Looking back, of course, there are tiny things I'd change now that it's seven years later. I'd switch out the flowers I used in my bridal bouquet and floral arch to be a little more organic-looking and I would create a more natural makeup look. Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to create gorgeous floral arrangements for family members and my bestie's wedding and I did my sister's makeup for her wedding, too.

After seeing how wedding beauty trends have changed over the last almost decade, I've seen that leaning into and accentuating natural beauty is the way to go. Your wedding day isn't the day to try out that new bold lippie or a dramatic eye look. Less is more and will stand the test of time.

I was so excited when Beauty Pie reached out to me, because I knew I had to create an updated bridal makeup look to inspire those of you getting married soon or maybe you're going to be a guest at a wedding this summer. This week is also a special time for me--it's my tenth dating anniversary, so I pulled out my wedding dress because why not?!

First up, after cleansing your skin, a moisturizer is a must-have. It goes on so lovely and helps smooth your skin for a flawless makeup look. Normally, I would apply an SPF at this point in my normal daily routine, but I recommend skipping this step on your wedding day only to prevent flashback in photos.

I skipped a typical foundation and opted for the Superluminous Skin Glow Filter. It's a lightweight blurring filter for your skin. It provides a luminous, radiant glow--simply perfect to enhance your natural beauty. For those areas that need a little extra coverage like your under eye or any blemishes, this concealer helps blur and brighten imperfections.

On my wedding day, I had a harsher contour than I'd do now. 2017 was the year for a sharp contour and bronzing, but now, I opt for a little bronzy glow. This bronzer provides a lightweight, sunkissed glow. I apply it to my cheeks, hairline, and a little on my nose. To add a little natural dimension and color, a quick swipe of blush will give you the perfect rosy hue.

Moving on to eyes and brows! I had a slightly smoky eye for my wedding day. Recreating a wedding look now, I'd use a softer color palette. The Summer Smoky palette is simply gorgeous for an elevated, chic look. I used the color Corky (medium brown) in my crease and lower lash line. I used the tiniest amount of Smoky Brown (dark brown) in my outer corner and it also doubled as my liner to create a softer look than traditional eyeliner.

On my lid, I mixed the two shimmer colors Brown Sugar and Bright Ivory together to create a custom, naturally glowy shade. In my inner corner and brow bone, I added an extra touch of Bright Ivory for added glow.

For my brows, I lightly filled and shaped them with the angled shaping pencil. I didn't want to create a harsh brow look, so I was sure to draw on natural-looking lines and blend with the spoolie.

I have been obsessed with this mascara lately. To create a natural lash extension look, I curl my lashes first. Then, I apply two coats of mascara on my top lashes and one quick swipe on the bottom lashes.

To complete the look, I love this lip oil. Nude Nectar is my personal favorite shade. It's naturally glowy and gives the look of lip gloss without being sticky. As the day goes on, you can quickly reapply with one swipe for a flawless, glowy look.
