STYLED GIRLS' DAY PICNIC | WINE & CHEESE PLATE + SUMMER SALAD

May 30, 2018

Thank you Middle Sister for sponsoring this post. Bring your favorite Middle Sister wine along to all of your celebrations this year!

Oh how I needed a girls' day! This past weekend, my besties and I got together for a much needed girls' day. We had tons of girl talk and laughed till we cried. There's just something about getting together with your girlfriends to celebrate life together just because.

Since a lot of my friends live over two hours away, we hardly ever get to have in-real-life girl time. It's usually spent on FaceTime calls and in sending memes all day on Facebook. When I asked my besties to come up for the weekend, I just knew I had to do something special when they were here.

I'm a party planning type gal, so of course I was going to go just slightly over the top for them! I decided to throw a girls' day picnic that was styled to the nines. I ended up taking over my in-law's backyard for the afternoon to glam up the picnic table--it was the perfect location!

I decorated the table with peonies & dusty millers in vintage mason jars. They honestly looked fake, because they are so perfect looking! It kept my glam farmhouse alive & well for this styled picnic. I also used white plates & serve wear to keep the tablescape light & airy.

I ended up making my favorite summer salad, a cheese plate, and of course, no girls' day is complete without wine, wine, and more wine! My summer salad is so quick & easy to make. I just grabbed a spring mix salad from the grocery store, sliced some strawberries to mix in, and sprinkled it with feta cheese & walnuts. My favorite dressing to pair with it is a raspberry vinaigrette to keep the sweet fruit flavors going.

On my cheese plate I wanted to have all of the delish cheeses we love. I had a little gouda, a garlic & herbs cheese spread, and classic white cheddar. For fruits, there were grapes & apples, and crackers, too! I also had a french baguette, because what's a picnic without carbs?! haha!

Now for my favorite part & the star of our picnic, all the wine! I ended up choosing to have Middle Sister wines, and they were so generous to send me six bottles for us to enjoy! We ended up opening Middle Sister Sweet & Sassy "Magic" Moscato and Middle Sister Wild One Malbec.

Middle Sister wines were created 10 years ago by the founding women of the Wine Sisterhood. Founder Terry Wheatley was fascinated by her best friend's middle daughter, Erin. From childhood, she was just more outrageous, more free-spirited and simply larger than life. Terry created Middle Sister wines for middle sisters everywhere, so they finally get the attention they deserve.

Wines (Left to Right): Middle Sister Goodie Two-Shoes Pinot Noir // Middle Sister Mischief Maker Cabernet Sauvignon // Middle Sister Sweet & Sassy "Magic" Moscato // Middle Sister Drama Queen Pinot Grigio // Middle Sister Wild One Malbec // Middle Sister Rebel Red Blend

Their snarky captions on each one of their bottles had us laughing. They say things like, "happiness is a closet full of shoes and a glass full of wine"--I mean can that saying be anymore true?!

To help celebrate Middle Sister wine's 10th birthday, the brand is hosting a monthly Kate Spade purse sweepstakes. Be sure to enter to win this month's Middle Sister giveaway, and remember to bring your favorite Middle Sister character along to all of your celebrations this year.
